General Statement
Adjunct instructors teach courses within a specific discipline to a diverse student population on our main campus in Worcester and/or at additional satellite locations within our service area. We are especially interested in instructors who are qualified to teach strength of materials, introduction to materials science, and thermodynamics. Courses assigned are primarily day and evening courses, and responsibilities include instructional preparation, assessment of student performance and assistance to students. Adjunct faculty will attend a limited number of faculty meetings.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications
-
Master's degree in engineering plus 5+ years progressive industry experience in engineering.
Demonstrated working knowledge of fundamental engineering principles.
Experience in teaching and in engineering practice.
Ability to teach day, evening or weekend classes in more than one campus location with particular emphasis on day classes in Southbridge or Worcester.
Preferred Qualifications
- Documented examples of syllabus / course development and assessment
- One year of successfully teaching engineering courses such as: Strength of Materials, Introduction to Materials Science, & Thermodynamics.
- Demonstrated experience with and ability to apply industry-recognized skill standards, including production processes, quality, safety, and employability skills, in the classroom.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with other Engineering instructors.
